Chief Igbinedion cut the sod for the commencement of construction works on the Chief Igbinidion Centre for International and Alumni Affairs at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology- November 26, 2011

The Essama of Benin, Nigeria, His Excellency Chief Sir Dr. Gabriel O. Igbinedion has cut the sod for the commencement of construction works on the Chief Igbinidion Centre for International and Alumni Affairs at KNUST. The Sod-Cutting ceremony took place at the forecourt of the current Alumni Centre.
The Ceremony was witnessed by the Administrative and academic staff, Council members, other guests and a Thirty- man Delegation accompanying the Essama of Benin.
Professor William Otoo Ellis,the Vice-Chancellor said KNUST as a centre of academic excellence is very happy to partner Chief Igbinedion. He was hopeful that the sod-cutting was a beginning of a good platform to build upon a relationship with the Igbinedion University, in the area of teaching, research and community service engagement. |
Chief Sir Igbinedion stated that 60 years in the life of a University is no mean achievement and that he was delighted to be part of the University regarding the fact the founder of the University, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah promoted African Unity and he also believed in the promotion of unity among Africans.
He further stated that the Igbinedion University, which is Nigeria’s first private University, though not a science and technology University runs about seventy five (75) % science and technology, courses for its students.
He praised the Asantehene,Otumfuo Osei Tutu II the Chancellor, for the opportunity to partner, Asanteman, KNUST and Ghana as a whole.
Prior to the Sod-Cutting Ceremony, Chief Sir Igbinedion and his entourage paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor. |
